Livingston poet and theatre artist Meriweather Campbell will read from and discuss her debut poetry book, Listen, the Lighthouse is Blinking, at a launch celebration on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 11 am, at Elk River Books, 122 S. 2nd St. The free event will include refreshments, snacks and a book signing.
“Meriweather Campbell’s poems trust in language as a kind of reverberation that will echo and remain,” writes Sarah Sentilles, author of Stranger Care: A Memoir of Loving What Isn’t Ours. “Hers is a tender book about love and loss, mortality and longing, and what it means to fall fiercely in love with this strange, enchanted world even as we learn we cannot keep it.”
Campbell is a poet, actress, and expressive arts therapist based in Livingston, Montana. Recent stage credits include Mary in Mary Page Marlow, the Angel in Angels in America, and Estelle in No Exit. Her poem “Bird House” appeared in the Owen Wister Review in 2014. In her private practice, Meriweather uses poetry and storytelling as access points for growth and insight, and she believes that making art is a vital, transformative process for healing and mental health.
For those who can’t attend in person, the event will live-stream at YouTube.com/ElkRiverBooks.
