Earth Day with Park High Green Initiative & Heather White

Elk River Arts & Lectures and the Park High Green Initiative celebrate Earth Day with a presentation by Heather White, author of 60 Days to a Greener Life: Ease Eco-Anxiety Through Joyful Daily Action.

Heather White is an author, national speaker, and consultant. She’s the author of 60 Days to a Greener Life: Ease Eco-Anxiety Through Joyful Daily Action, which will be published by Harper Collins on April 9, 20224. Her first book is One Green Thing: Discover Your Hidden Power to Help Save the Planet.

Heather is a nationally recognized conservation and environmental policy expert and a frequent spokesperson in national media on climate, energy, and conservation issues. Heather more than 20 years of experience leading and advising non-profit organizations, including increasing organizational performance, managing change, guiding strategic planning, and directing innovative fundraising and advocacy campaigns.

In April 2021, she launched OneGreenThing, a nonprofit that tackles climate crisis overwhelm and anxiety through joyful daily action, inspiring culture change for policy solutions. She also serves as a consultant to help businesses, foundations, and nonprofits create a greener, healthier, and more equitable world through her consulting firm, Heather White Strategies, which she created in 2019.

Heather has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Tennessee College of Law, Director of Education Advocacy for the National Wildlife Federation, Counsel to US Senator Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), a presidential campaign staffer and recount attorney for Al Gore, and an associate at Bass, Berry & Sims law firm. In 2015, Heather was named one of the “Top 20 Women Leaders in Sustainability” by Green Building & Design magazine and “100 Women to Watch in Wellness” by MindBodyGreen. She serves on several national nonprofit boards.

This special Earth Day event is hosted in partnership with the Park High Green Initiative, with Green Initiative members moderating the discussion. The event will also include climate monologues performed by local youth and a display of the results of students’ Earth Day challenges, including recycled art objects.

Green Initiative is a student led organization that strives to provide climate conscious youth with the tools to advocate for increased environmental action. By using the implementation of creative solutions, our organization develops sustainable infrastructure throughout our community and beyond.
