Elk River Books will showcase two authors, Frank Carter and Timothy J. Tate, in a group reading and book signing on Thursday, October 13, at 7 p.m.
Frank Carter’s book, Feather Beard: Steps from the Heart of a Solitary Walker, recounts his journey along the 500-mile Appalachian Trail, “to rediscover his family’s southern roots, his own essence, and the earth itself.”
Of the book, Molly Caro May, author of The Map of Enough, writes, “Carter takes us on an exquisite and honest journey, one of footfalls, questioning and well-considered connection. By the end we feel closer to the landscape, closer to his heart and also, what all readers want to feel, closer to our own hearts.”
Timothy J. Tate, former headmaster at Bozeman’s Headwaters Academy, is the author of ZooGaia, a young adult adventure “describing the effects of a world run amok. It is the first book of a trilogy depicting a world dominated by a destructive patriarchy, and Earth Gaia’s vengeance against that world.”
The free event will take place upstairs at Elk River Books, 120 N. Main St. and will be followed by a book signing and reception. Elk River Books specializes in collectible outdoor, regional and Western history books, and provides a lively venue for southwest Montana’s unique literary community.
