Creek & River Writers Night: Peter Bowen

Feb 28, 2017 | Events

The free reading series, Creek & River Writers Night continues with Peter Bowen on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Pine Creek Lodge, 2496 East River Road, eleven miles south of Livingston.

In his sixteen Gabriel Du Pré Montana-based mysteries Bowen has touched on the romantic history of the Metis, and in the comic Yellowstone Kelly novels retold some history in a manner calculated, he says, “to offend the dreary scribblers of hack “Western” novels.” He is now nearly finished with a long novel set in 1923, a year when Jack Dempsey and Tommy Gibbons fought for the World Heavyweight title, Tom Mix made movies and prosperity came to Montana’s plains through bootlegging hooch.

Dinner menu and beer & wine bar are available. Reservations aren’t necessary, but it’s recommended to arrive early to get a good table. For directions, call Pine Creek at 222-3628.
